The North Penn Lacrosse Club is a non-profit volunteer organization committed to providing quality instruction in a fun and competitive environment for players in Kindergarten through 8th grade who reside within the North Penn School District, or per SEPLYA league rules reside within the Methacton region. The mission of our program is to provide players with the opportunity to learn the sport of lacrosse, while following a core curriculum of age and skill based progressions to better prepare players for success at the high school level. While we only play the boy's version of the sport, we do have girls playing within our club too.
The North Penn Lacrosse Club was formed in 1997 and later joined the South Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association (SEPYLA). In 2013, we became the "North Penn Dragons". Our teams are organized by grade (K-2, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, and 7th/8th) and then by skill level to best accommodate your child's lacrosse development.
In addition to the 3rd- 8th grade SEPYLA league teams, our club also fields a K-2nd grade instructional team called the "Mini-Guns" who play a mix of intra-squad scrimmages and instructional games against other area programs.
The North Penn Dragons host clinics and have teams which play in various outdoor as well as indoor leagues throughout the year; however, spring is the primary season for lacrosse. Spring practices typically begin the first weekend of March, and are held both Saturdays mornings and Sunday afternoons on the turf field at Christopher Dock High School for the first four weeks.
The Mini-Guns usually begin practices the 3rd weekend in March at Christopher Dock. In April and May, our club uses multiple school district and township fields for practices twice per week (occasionally 3 times at our older and more experienced levels), and play games on either Saturday or Sunday afternoons. The "Mini-Gun" and "Young-Gun" teams practice and play their games at Squire's Field on Hancock Rd.
Currently, the SEPYLA league schedules 7th and 8th Grade games on Saturday mornings, while the 3rd- 6th Grade teams play on Sunday afternoons. Both the Mini-Gun and Young-Gun games are typically held on Saturday mornings. Additionally, no games at any level are played over the Easter or the Memorial holiday weekend.
The North Penn Dragons Lacrosse Club is now a member of US Lacrosse. Players in grades 3 through 8th grades require a membership to participate in the spring. This provides members with many benefits. One of these is a website with information for new parents to learn more about the game of lacrosse. See the link here: www.uslacrosse.org
